For this review we went through the DragonBet website in October 2026: the sportsbook, the sign-up form, the help pages, the betting rules and the full terms. We checked the company on the Gambling Commission register and at Companies House, and we compared DragonBet’s prices with other independent bookmakers on the same afternoon. Here is what we found.

Who owns DragonBet

Companies House shows Lovells Group Limited holding more than three quarters of DragonBet Ltd. Lovells is the company of the Lovell family, who are on-course bookmakers. Both companies are registered at the same address in Cardiff.

DragonBet is open about where it comes from. Its About page describes a family business born from the betting ring, run by people who grew up at the races, the dog tracks and the bookies. It says it is proud to still stand at betting rings around the UK, and that bringing those on-course values online is the point of the website. The page signs off in Welsh: Diolch.

The present company was formed in May 2024 and its online licence dates from July 2024. It also holds a licence from the Irish regulator. Our independent bookmakers page shows how DragonBet connects to the other owner-run firms.

Welsh sport comes first

Plenty of bookmakers claim a local identity. DragonBet shows it on the page. When we visited:

  • Welsh Events had its own entry in the main menu, in the Popular block next to horse racing, football and rugby union.
  • The homepage led with the Welsh Racing Festival, with ante-post prices for the Welsh Champion Hurdle, the Persian War and the Silver Trophy.
  • Newport County had a featured slot for their EFL Trophy match, next to the England and Scotland internationals.

DragonBet says it offers more coverage of Welsh sport than anyone else, across football and rugby, and that it aims to be top price on Welsh teams and Welsh players. It adds an unusual promise: if it is not top price, contact the team on social media or through customer service and it will see what it can do. Its own description of its coverage names Cardiff City, Swansea City, Wrexham and Newport County in football, and all four Welsh regions in the United Rugby Championship.

The website and sportsbook

The layout is simple. Five tabs run across the top: Sports, In Play, Virtuals, Casino and Live Casino, plus a News tab. The left-hand menu lists every sport from A to Z with DragonBoosts at the top. The list includes Gaelic football and hurling, politics and TV specials as well as the main sports.

The homepage puts racing first. A Next Races strip shows the next horse races with the first three in the betting and a link to the full racecard, and it switches to greyhounds with one tap. Below it, a Top Events block listed every Nations League and EFL Trophy match of the evening with home, draw and away prices. Prices that are drifting or shortening are colour coded.

Horse racing and greyhounds

DragonBet offers best odds guaranteed on all UK and Irish horse racing. Take an early price, and if the starting price is bigger you are paid at the bigger price. A banner for it sat on the homepage when we visited. Each-way betting, ante-post markets and in-play betting on the big races are all in place.

We compared racing prices on the afternoon of 6 October 2026. On the 5:01 at Leicester, DragonBet was 6/4 about the favourite when another owner-run independent was 11/8. Prices on a race at Brighton went the other way. The lesson is the usual one: an independent has its own opinion, so check two before you bet. Our horse racing betting page lists the other racing firms and the racing calendar shows the big meetings ahead.

For greyhounds, DragonBet covers the daytime meetings and the main evening cards with forecast, tricast and trap challenge markets.

DragonBoosts, in-play and cash out

DragonBoosts are enhanced prices on selected events, added through the week. On our visit the football boosts were player markets for the England match, such as a named striker to have three or more shots on target. Each boost shows that a maximum bet applies.

In-play betting covers football, racing, rugby, tennis and more, and cash out is available on selected in-play markets. The value offered reflects the live odds and your stake.

Payout limits

One customer can win up to £100,000 in a day across all sports. Within that, UK and Irish racing singles and multiples are covered to £100,000, forecasts and tricasts to £50,000, and the main greyhound meetings to £25,000. Top-level football carries the full £100,000. A multiple that mixes sports takes the lowest limit among its legs.

Opening an account

The sign-up form opens under the heading "Let's get you started" with three fields: email, password and an optional promo code. If you are using a welcome offer that needs a code, this is where it goes. The current offer is shown in the panel on this page.

DragonBet verifies your age automatically when you make your first deposit. It may then ask for a document: a passport, a driving licence, a bank statement, a payslip, a utility bill or a letter from HM Revenue and Customs. You cannot withdraw until your identity is confirmed.

Deposits and withdrawals

DragonBet takes Visa debit, Mastercard and Maestro cards. You can hold your account in pounds or euros.

Withdrawals are the strong point. DragonBet says its payments team processes withdrawals 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that the money typically reaches you within a couple of hours. Some banks take longer, and the stated outer limit is five days. You request a withdrawal from the account section and can follow it in your transaction history.

Customer support

Support is by email and through the chat window on the site, and DragonBet is active on X, Instagram and Facebook. Complaints follow a written procedure in the terms, and an unresolved betting dispute can go to the Independent Betting Adjudication Service free of charge.

Casino and virtual sports

DragonBet has a full casino and a live casino under the same login and the same balance. It names Inspired, Hacksaw Gaming and Trigger Studios among its slot suppliers. Virtual horse racing, greyhounds and football run around the clock.

Safer gambling tools

Deposit limits, loss limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion are all in your account settings. DragonBet works with GamCare and is part of GAMSTOP.

Who DragonBet suits

DragonBet suits anyone who follows Welsh sport, and any racing punter who wants best odds guaranteed from a family firm that still stands on the course. Fast withdrawals and a clear £100,000 daily limit make it an easy everyday account.

If you want a higher ceiling for big accumulators, compare the limits on our independent bookmakers page. To see what any DragonBet price returns, use the betting odds calculator.
