Ownership and the LiveScore Group Story

LiveScore Group sits behind three consumer brands: the LiveScore scores and news app, Virgin Bet (launched 2019) and LiveScore Bet (launched 2020). The group span out of Gamesys in 2019 after a management buyout, then added Virgin Bet by licensing the Virgin brand from Richard Branson’s group. Since 2022 the business has been part-owned by Ringier AG, the Swiss media company that valued the group at around £350m when it took its stake.

LiveScore Bet’s sportsbook runs on Kambi, the Stockholm-listed B2B provider that also powers BetRivers in the US and several Kindred Group sportsbooks. That matters in practice because it means odds movement, in-play suspensions and cash out behaviour feel very similar to other Kambi-powered sites, rather than the in-house feel you get from the major brands that build their own trading platforms. LiveScore Group signed the Kambi deal in 2020 and extended it through the late 2020s.

The group operates LiveScore Bet in the UK, Ireland, Nigeria and the Netherlands. In Nigeria the licence is held by local partner Visatech Ltd under National Lottery Regulatory Commission oversight, while the UK and Ireland sites share the Gibraltar-based operator company. The sister brand, Virgin Bet, carries most of LiveScore Group’s horse racing sponsorship profile in the UK, which is worth knowing if you already bet with Virgin: the two accounts are separate but sit under the same group safer-gambling framework.

Welcome Offer and Ongoing Promotions

LiveScore Bet runs a free-bet-style welcome offer for new UK customers. Free bets at LiveScore Bet are issued as stake-not-returned tokens, which is the common UK format.

Existing customer promotions lean on horse racing and football. VAR Payout refunds losing football bets as a free bet when your selection is overturned by a VAR decision. Extra Places on selected UK and Irish racing adds a fifth or sixth place to each-way bets. During the Cheltenham Festival and Grand National meeting LiveScore Bet typically runs a daily free bet drop for active customers, which is a real differentiator against the rolling-offer model you see at most UK high street brands.

Sports Coverage and Odds

The Kambi-powered sportsbook covers 30+ sports with the usual UK priority list: football, horse racing, tennis, rugby, cricket, darts, snooker, NFL, NBA and MLB. Independent testing from MightyTips put the average margin at around 7.3% overall, with football markets at 9.9% and tennis at 9.11%. That is competitive with the UK market median but trails the sharpest prices you tend to find at exchanges and the reduced-margin operators that specialise in low vig.

Football is clearly the priority market. You get price boosts across the Premier League, Champions League and the bigger European leagues, plus a Bet Builder tool that lets you combine stats markets (shots on target, corners, bookings) on a single match. Horse racing is a real strength given LiveScore Group’s investment in racing through Virgin Bet. Best Odds Guaranteed applies to UK and Irish meetings plus selected international fixtures, alongside Extra Places at big festivals. Live streaming is available for racing when you have a funded account or have placed a qualifying bet in the last 24 hours. Greyhound streaming follows the same rule.

Mobile App and Live Integration

The native iOS and Android apps are the main selling point. LiveScore Bet is built mobile-first in a way few UK sportsbooks are, because the app shares DNA with the LiveScore scores product that sits on millions of phones already. If you have the LiveScore app, placing a bet on an in-play match takes two taps from the match centre via a deep link into the LiveScore Bet app.

The app handled in-play price updates quickly in our testing, with price lock and suspension behaviour typical of a Kambi sportsbook. Live streaming is available for horse racing, greyhounds and selected tennis and football matches, subject to the usual funded-account or 24-hour-bet rule. Cash Out is active on most single and multi bets but not on Bet Builders, which is worth knowing before you build a large accumulator.

Banking: Deposits and Withdrawals
